A GLP-1 price comparison is easy to get wrong because providers sell different things under similar monthly headlines. One figure may buy only care access, another only a starter dose, and another a monthly equivalent of a large prepaid purchase.

Start with the same question for every service: what will I be charged today, over the next three months, and when this offer ends? Then separate the medication, clinical services, and any optional extras.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Compare total committed cost and payment timing for the same treatment period. Add all required fees and account for the difference between a calendar month and a four-week refill cycle.

What to know first

  • A $99 advertisement does not necessarily mean a $99 checkout.
  • A four-week plan has 13 cycles in 52 weeks.
  • A quoted pharmacy price and a membership price may need to be added.

Choose a comparison period

Three months is often a useful first comparison because it exposes introductory discounts and recurring charges without requiring you to predict a full year of treatment. Write down the exact first payment and the next two or three scheduled payments.

Also record how much is nonrefundable or remains owed if treatment changes. Two programs can have the same average monthly cost but very different upfront commitments and exit terms.

Separate the cost components

For a membership model, ask whether the drug is included. Mochi’s pricing illustrates a membership plus dose-based medication bill. Ro’s pricing illustrates a care membership with the approved medication paid separately.

For a consultation model, include the visits needed during your comparison period. Lavender Sky Health lists consultation fees separately from pharmacy treatment plans. Comparing only its consultation fee with another provider’s medication bundle would be misleading.

Check the billing calendar

A four-week cycle is 28 days. Thirteen such cycles cover 52 weeks. At an unchanged $224 per cycle, the 52-week total would be $2,912, not the $2,688 you would calculate by multiplying by 12. This is an arithmetic example based on Emerge’s published starting cycle, not a forecast of a patient’s dose or bill.

A calendar-month plan normally has 12 monthly periods in a year. A longer prepaid plan may use “per month” only as a way of presenting the total. Ask for a calendar showing when charges occur.

Read starter offers as starter offers

OrderlyMeds’ pricing page distinguishes a two-month new-customer package from ongoing treatment. A low first-package average does not answer what month three costs.

Similarly, the CoreAge Rx billing guide explains why a monthly equivalent can be charged for several months at once. Keep the offer and its billing conditions on the same line of your comparison.

Keep the medical decision ahead of the bargain

Compare prices only after the proposed product and care plan are clear. An inexpensive route, additive, or unapproved formulation is not necessarily equivalent to the medicine your clinician intended. A promotional dose should not determine your prescribed dose.

Before buying several months, discuss tolerability, follow-up, and the plan if treatment must change. For a provider shortlist, see online GLP-1 comparisons, where commercial placement is disclosed.
